Touch the web while driving a Ford!
The world is getting connected more and more with the web. So car manufacturers are now shifting their paradigm of making speedy cars to cars that can have a quick access to the web. People will no more judge a car just with its accelerating speed from 0-60mph but how fast they can tweet and search on Google.
“They demand to have access to the internet all the time. Even when they’re driving,”
said John Wolkonowicz, senior automotive analyst at IHS Global Insightdemand. The internet is taking a centre stage and the urge of getting connected is spreading like a wildfire. Fast cars will now get tagged to “connected cars”.
When things are changing, how can Ford remain behind in this marathon? Alan Mulally, the chief executive to Ford, shared his views about manufacturing cars that would give an ultimate web experience. People will have an access to the web with a beautiful touch screen. They can browse the net, make reservations and even check real-time traffic information for finding out the quickest route. If Ford is your choice, you can get twitter updates or tweet even while driving with a special voice activated computer that would read out messages to you. “A lot has happened in 2009. It’s been a historic year, and Ford is in a different place,” Mr. Mulally said.
Ford will soon be in sync with the web and will be launched in 2010 as told by Alan Mulally. Ford’s updated in-car Sync system will go a long way by linking to a 3G mobile for streaming music as well as podcasts from music players. Though there is no announcement as to when Ford’s Sync will arrive but it would surely be a revolution in the automobile industry. Everyone is waiting the unveiling of this breathtaking technology.
